San Francisco Vacation

We decided that we needed a little break from work, the kids and everything else so we took a trip to San Francisco in February while the grandparents took turns watching the kids. Relying strictly on public transportation (which included quite a few trips on the trolley cars), we were able to do quite a few things but still get to relax while we were there.

Here are a few photos of the things that we did and saw:

Us on Lombard Street, the most winding street.
We visited Alcatraz...
One of our many trips on the trolley system.
Taking a boat out to see the Golden Gate bridge.
We ate at a fancy seafood restaurant on the bay and what did Kirsten order? Stuffed potato skins from the appetizer section of the menu. Classy!

Skiing!

Grandpa Brian decided that Ethan needed to hit the slopes this winter. On December 31st, Ethan went skiing in Park City for his very first time. Ethan took a lesson that day and each time he went after that he just kept getting better!

On our way back from a successful (albeit extremely cold) first day of skiing with friends and family.

Christmas 2010

Here are a few pics from the holiday season:

The monkeys with the fat man. Poor Owen was going through a phase where he pretty much didn't like going to anyone but mom or dad.
Owen getting one of the best gifts that he could ever receive - diapers!
What Santa left us on Christmas morning.

Owen the red-nosed reindeer.
Owen getting tired of us making him do ridiculous stuff.
Our happy family!

Owen's First Birthday

Owen turned one on Sunday, December 19th, 2010. That night we had family over to celebrate. The highlight of the evening was watching Owen eat (and gradually wear) his own chocolate cake.

The end result.
Needless to say, he was taken straight to the bathtub after.

Happy Birthday Grandma!

My Grandma turned 75 on October 29th and we wanted to do something special for her. Robby had an idea of having her play on the organ at the Tabernacle on Temple Square. My grandma has played the organ forever and she does it so well. A friend of a friend of a friend etc of my parents hooked us up and made it possible for my grandma to meet with Clay Christiansen (Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Organist) and play a couple songs for us. It was great to hear her play on such a beautiful organ. We love you Grandma!

Owen wouldn't stay quiet in the Tabernacle so he got to play with Daddy outside...

Halloween 2010...

Rylie with her loot after trick-or-treating...(poor Ethan was sick that day and only lasted for a little bit trick-or-treating...he was already asleep at this point...)

Ethan the dinosaur...Owen the lion...Rylie the witch...
and Aunt Kaitlin the ladybug...

We tried to carve out the inside and put Owen in it with his legs poking out the bottom...Owen is just too chubby (or the pumpkin wasn't big enough)

The monkeys at our ward party...

Rylie at her preschool party...
Ethan the scary dinosaur and Rylie the witch at Daddy's work party...

The kids and their friends at a party at my friends house...
